These truffles always go down well. I made some for my dad for fathers day and he hid them so he didnt have to share them. I then made a batch for my brother and dropped them off to his work, they didnt make it home! Thats should tell you how popular they are with my family.
They're super easy to make, you don't need any special equipment and they only have three ingredients.
Ingredients
One packet of Oreo Biscuits (154g) - the normal ones, not the double filled ones
75g Cream Cheese
150g Milk Chocolate
Optional:
50g White Chocolate for the drizzle
Method
- Take the Oreo's out of the packet and put them in a food processor, blitz until they are crumbs. If you dont have a food processor you can pop them in a food bag and bash them with a rolling pin.
- Put your cream cheese into a large bowl and add your oreo crumbs, mix to combine
- If you find your mix a little sticky, pop the bowl in the fridge for 10 minutes. They should be easier to handle after this.
- Take a teaspoon of mix and roll it into a ball using the palm of your hands, you can do them larger if you'd like but try to get them all a similar size.
- Place each ball onto a sheet of greaseproof paper.
- Once you've used all your mix, pop your truffles in the freezer for 30 mins or the fridge for an hour. This makes it much easier to dip them
- Melt your milk chocolate in a shallow bowl.
- Put your truffle on a fork and gently lower into the metled chocolate until covered.
- Remove from the chocolate and give a little tap on the bowl to get rid of any excess, use another fork to gently slide the truffle back onto the greaseproof paper.
- Repeat with the other truffles then leave to set.
- If you want to add drizzles, melt your white chocolate, once melted use a fork dipped in chocolate and go back and forward above each truffle. If you have a piping bag, pop the chocolate in the piping bag, snip off the very end and slowly go back and forward over the truffles
If you have a cakesicle mould you can use this to make larger truffles, follow the steps above but instead of using a bowl for your chocolate, use a tall glass and dip the cakesicles.
Heres the cakesicle version I make.
