Bronuts are a cross between a brownie and a doughnut, super simple to make, and you can decorate them however you like so there are endless possibilities.
Ingredients
- 200g dark chocolate
- 200g unsalted butter
- 4 medium eggs
- 275g golden caster sugar
- 100g plain flour
- 50g cocoa powder
Decorations
- 200g milk chocolate
- 100g white chocolate
- your choice of decorations, I used a handful of mini marshmallows
Equipment
- you'll need a silicone doughnut mould. Link to the ones i use
Method
Preheat the oven to 160 degrees fan, 180 non fan
Prepare the doughnut moulds, I spray them with frylight but you can use a little butter on kitchen roll to do the same job
Put the dark chocolate and usalted butter in a bowl
Melt in the nicrowave, start with a 30 second burst, mix well, another 30 second blast then continue with 10 second burst until fully melted
Once melted leave to one side whilst we prepare the eggs
Add the eggs and golden caster sugar to a seperate bowl and whisk until they have lightened in colour and doubled in volume, this can take up to 5 minutes
Once the eggs have whipped, add in the melted dark chocolate mixture and fold gently
Once the chocolate mixture is fully incorporated, add in the flour and cocoa powder and again fold in gently
Once the flour mixture is fully incorporated (no lumps), pour the mixture into a piping bag
Carefully pipe into the prepared moulds, you dont want to over fill them but you can fill them pretty close to the top of the mould
I get around 16 bronuts from this mixture.
Place the moulds on a baking tray and bake for 16 minutes, if they arent done then return for 2 minutes at a time
Once baked allow to fully cool in the mould. If you don't let them fully cool then it will be harder to remove from the mould.
Decorating
Once cool stretch out the mould to help release the bronuts and carefully remove the bronuts
Melt the milk chocolate and put into a shallow bowl, carefully dip the bronuts and place onto a sheet of greaseproof paper
Melt the white chocolate and put into a piping bag, cut a small amount from the end of the piping bag
Slowly move back and forward across the bronuts, leaving white chocolate drizzles
Finally add your decorations or sprinkles
Now it's time to enjoy.... these are best eaten on the day they are baked, but will keep for up to 3 days in an airtight container
